TRAINING

TRANSPORTING CONTENT

There's never been a more bountiful selection of communications technology to carry content to learners.

Deciding how you deliver is just as important as deciding what you deliver. We know the attributes and pitfalls of media technology, so we match the most appropriate medium to the project, through a survey of client needs and resources. We'll choose, adapt, or reinvent the one that:

  Provides the cleanest route
  Offers value: reasonable cost-per- trainee
  Best communicates content clearly
Makes best use of the available technical resources

A CLASS ACT

We can create materials for group settings, whether delivered by our instructors, a client's trainers, or manager-peers we train to be trainers.

Comprehensive packages include content designed for group presentation along with support materials for trainer, trainees, administrative staff, and the front line managers in departments where the trainee works.

Content is housed in modules, allowing flexibility in delivery and economical revisions in the future.

Classroom-based materials could include:
Curriculum Guide/Trainer Guide
PowerPoint slide support
Print materials
Exercises and Activities
Video and other media clips
Participant Materials
Display materials
Job Aid Tools
Handouts
Demonstrations, games, and simulations

BUILDING AN ORGANIZATION ONE EMPLOYEE AT A TIME

We also design programs for individualized instruction, where training is provided where needed, when needed, and to to those specifically who need it. Individualized instruction opens up opportunities for prescriptive training, remedial instruction, and advanced career skills.

Learners can proceed at their own pace, advancing only when they can demonstrate the competencies that the training addresses.

Pre-tests and post-tests offer mechanisms to track performance and monitor training activity.

Materials can be delivered through CD/DVD, through the Internet, or through an organization's Intranet, as well as via more traditional print and video formats.

Individualized instruction can respond to trainee's own unique learning style.

Additionally, the contents can be available for review by employees at a later time as reference material, offering a private, risk-free venue for employees to revisit information they may have forgotten or simply want to check.

The self-study materials could include:
Online text and graphics-driven self-study segments
Embedded slide and video
Downloadable pdf files
Exercises and activities
Video and other media clips
Interactive demos
Simulations and games
In-depth readings
Individual pre- and post-tests
Materials accessible for review at all times

ON-JOB TRAINING AND OTHER VENUES

Sometimes an employee can learn best by just doing. On-job training and mentoring, usually under the supervision of a manager or coworker, can provide both instruction by modeling skills and behaviors, and guidance by critiquing them.

The challenge of on-job training is to guarantee consistency from employee-to-employee over time.

By designing an on-job training protocol, which includes guidelines for both the mentor and the trainee, we can assure that no matter who gives or receives the training, the organization can count on uniformity and the confidence that goals are being met.

THANK YOU, TECHNOLOGY.
YOU TOO, INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

New-fangled devices have changed the way we deliver institutional knowledge.

With these tools and the principles of instructional design, training can proudly stand up to the same rigorous scrutiny as any other function in the organization

With the resources to develop materials more efficiently, organizations will now be able to address challenges that were too expensive to even consider in the past.

Our firm will continue to work with clients to joyfully discover new applications using instructional technology, and when we are at our most creative, to find uses that no one envisioned before. It's this promise of innovation and our sense of curiosity that keeps us excited about every new project that walks through the door.
